In hardware interviews, it is not uncommon to cover behavioral questions. In fact, quite a few companies, such as Amazon, Intel and Apple, specifically have behavioral interviews.
To succeed in hardware interviews, candidates should master both technical and behavioral questions.
Although no specific books exist for hardware engineers to prepare behavioral interviews, one dedicated for our software counterparts can be leveraged. The title of the book is “Behavioral Interviews for Software Engineers”, and it is written by Melia Stevanovic.

Melia Stevanovic proposed an effective framework for answering behavioral questions, known as the “STARR” method, which stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result, and Reflection. The “STARR” method helps candidates structure responses and provide clear and concise examples of past experience and expertise.
In addition, she shared dozens of real behavioral interview questions in the book. These questions cover the most frequently asked topics in behavioral interviews, including problem solving, leadership, teamwork, collaboration, decision making, etc.
This book provides candidates with valuable insights and tools to ace the behavioral interviews. We would recommend interviewees to go through this book before going for the interview.
